Alternative Education

Although we are small and our school designation is alternative, we are much more than that. We can offer something different from the traditional schools. We can offer 5-6 credits where a traditional high school can only offer 4. We offer small class sizes, personalized learning, credit recovery and alternative diplomas.

Our unique qualities are:

• All staff trained on de-escalation and teaching students with high needs
• Administrator investigates and uses alternatives to suspension when applicable
• Parents can request for their children to attend LCLA for a variety of reasons (anxiety, attendance, mental health issues, academics, etc.) in addition to students who are referred by other schools
• Daily mentoring and enrichment program
• Student Success Notebook - students meet with mentors weekly to review grades, attendance, behavior
• Weekly group counseling sessions
